Asia received her BFA with honors from California College of the Arts in 2010. While she is considers herself to be a multi-faceted artist, her focus is photography.
Her motivation to create is perpetually fueled by humanity with all of its flaws, idiosyncrasies, imbalances, vulnerabilities, and ironies. Asia thinks of her work as a social commentary, often creating dialogues about feminism, human rights, islamophobia, and other controversial subject matter.
Asia currently lives and works in the San Francisco Bay Area. She collaborates closely with the local LGBTQ community and drag scene to make editorial-style portraiture and document the lifestyles of a subculture. She is also working on a diaristic self-portrait project called “static,” which utilizes expired 35mm film as a fading medium.
